Train Party Cake Make your favorite sheet cake (13 x 9in) with it either greased and floured really well or greased and place waxed paper in the bottom of the pan. Cool for 10 minutes in pan then loosen sides. Invert on a rack, remove waxed paper and cool completely. Place in freezer for an hour or two for easier cutting and frosting. Arrange wooden sticks on a covered cake board and glue in place for the tracks. Cut the cake as pictured below. Stack piece A on top of one of the other pieces to make the engine and frost with red frosting. Place a large marshmallow on top for the smoke stack. Frost the remaining pieces different colors. I used yellow, green and blue. Using a spatula, carefully place the cars on the track starting with the engine. Put chocolate disc candies on the side for the wheels and put assorted candies on the tops for the cargo. Directions (I changed them a little) and graphic are from Birthday Cakes for Kids Decorations I order Thomas the Tank engine plates, napkins, table cloth and cups in birthdayexpress.com and let the birthday boy wear the engineer hat. I taped balloons in bunches of threes in the birthday room and had red streamers hung. Goody Bag I gave them Thomas stickers, of course, and some coloring pages from Thomasthetankengine.com. I also got small train whistles and a plastic Thomas cup. Click on image to enlarge
